Oh My!

What a weekend!
Seems like our weekends just fly by anymore. With Brandon taking classes M-W-F and working all 5 days as well, our once 3 day weekends have shortened to just 2 days. It seems those two days fill up so quickly with Bradley classes every Sat. and then church youth group commitments and get togethers seems every week for either a birthday or something! What ever little downtime we do get we covet!
My weekend from work started on Thursday… I had signed up for a training that teaches kids abstinence and I’d been wanting to go to for awhile. The class started and I wasn’t feeling very well at all. So I got up and excused myself to see if some cooler fresh air would help, we were in a really warm room! Very quickly I got really sick. I think I vomited 8 – 10 times, no exateration. I had never felt this sick for the whole pregnancy. I knew something was wrong!
My friend who was in the class with me came to check on me and could see I wasn’t doing well at all. I really thought that I was going to pass out. I couldn’t stop vomiting and I was getting weaker and weaker by the minute. She asked me if I wanted to go to my Dr. office and I told her I didn’t, that I didn’t like them…
She decided that I probably needed to go home and helped me to her car and drove me home. Luckily Brandon was still at home, he was getting ready for work. He saw my condition and took my pulse {he’s in an EMT course so he likes to practice on me ;) } and decided that I needed to go to the ER cause it seemed like I was pretty dehydrated from all the vomiting. If nothing else they could get me fluids and check to make sure the baby was ok.
When we got there I explained to them how I had been vomiting so much and that I had a burning terrible pain in my lower abdomen. They took me back and the first thing they did was do an ultrasound to make sure the baby was ok. The nurse practitioner asked me if I could feel the baby moving, at the time I couldn’t really feel it at all, but she said that he/she was moving around like crazy!
The nurse came in and hooked me up to fluids and drew some blood for some tests. A little while later the Dr came in and he also did an ultrasound to check things out and looked at the baby’s heartbeat. He said everything looked fine as far as the baby was concerned. He asked me some questions and then he left too.
After the fluids were complete the nurse came in and asked for a urine sample and so I gave them one. It looked like I was still pretty dehydrated to me, but what did I know?! Turns out it was so dark cause I had a major Urinary Tract infection going on!
Appearently I had had it for over a week I just didn’t realize that I had it! Some of you are probably thinking How can you NOT know?! It sorta burns… hello! But the thing is that I just equated the increased frequency to being pregnant, and the pain when I peed… well I thought that it was just my uterus being stretched or something. I have friend who gets UTI’s often and she said it burned when she peed, well I imagined an external pain for some reason… so the fact that it was such an internal pain didn’t really mean anything to me! I had never had one before!! I know now…
So I got some antibiotics and they let me go home. All that for a day at the ER you’re probably thinking but there were some other issues going on that I won’t really mention for sake of embarressment. But in the end I was glad that I went. Every one was extremely friendly and kind to us. By going I knew for sure that the baby was just fine.
How am I feeling now?
Well the weekend went on a little shaky. I was hoping that I didn’t need to take the zofran anymore but after 3 days of throwing up EVERY thing I eat I decided that I probably still need it. Although it’s disappointing to have to stay on it longer, I know that it’s for mine and baby’s best. I got get some food in me so baby can eat!
We also started our Bradley’s class this weekend and that was fun! I learned a lot and got some excersises to do for homework. Some of them I need Brandon for, others I can do on my own. They are all strengthing excersises to build up for the main event! To build my endurance and muscle strength. Nothing to strenuous so I know I can manage! Most of them feel good as they are some sort of muscle release or help me to carry the baby better. I’m looking forward to our classes in the future and all we will gain from them!

A scavenger hunt:
Valentine’s day didn’t happen the way my honey had it planned…. {or how I described in the previous post for that matter.} I guess that’s just what could happen when you are taking a risk with work during a huge inspection. We both had to work much later than planned due to some unexpected complications and therefore had to postpone our reservations for Saturday night :(
I will admit it was disappointing! But Brandon was most definitely more disappointed than I was. I couldn’t figure out why he was so upset about it. It was just dinner and we could go next weekend when we wouldn’t be rushed for time to get ready. But I soon learned that it wasn’t just dinner plans that had been “ruined”…
When we got home from work we decided to just relax and watch a romantic movie and eat some valentine cookies my friend Rachael had made for us with a tall glass of milk! {my hubby LOVES cookies and milk!!} As we sat down to cuddle up and start the movie Brandon begins to explain that not only were we going to go to dinner at a nice restraunt… but when we got home he was going to have me wait in the car for a minute and then come inside.
He would then run inside and up the stairs and lock our door with a note on the outside that said: ‘Not so fast! I have hidden your present and you can’t come in til you find it! No need to worry I’ve given you clues along the way! (first clue) P.S. I love you!’
So the game began! I got up and followed the clues he had hidden through out the house the day before, starting with looking in the DVD cover of P.S. I love you! Sure enough, there was another clue… He had 15 clues placed through out the house and I had to first figure out what the clue meant and then find the next clue! It was a blast!!
Finally it led me to my craft room where I opened the door to find a teddy bear holding a heart shaped box. There was a note on top of the box that explained how he had written something he loved about me for each day of the last month!! How sweet is that?! I was blown away {once again!} by how romantic and creative my husband is and how his love never ceases to amaze me!
How he will top that next year, I have no clue… but I believe that he will find a way driven by an even deeper love!!
A passing grade:
I mentioned that we have been under inspection at work and have been preparing for it for the last two weeks… well the inspection happened this weekend and WE PASSED!! We don’t have to do it again! At least not for another 4 years or so… What a relief!
Upcoming excitement:
Next Saturday we being our labor classes! We have decided to do the Bradly Method because it’s all about a husband coached labor and delivery and also about how to have the most natural childbirth possible. We have done a lot of research on it and know several parents who used it and loved it! We will meet once a week for 12 weeks at a certified Bradley Method coaches house for two hours and be filled with education on ALL our options for labor and delivery and be assisted in writing our own birth plan that will be given to our OB.
Then the next week is our ultra sound and we are so incredibly excited to see our little swimmer who has been so active these last couple weeks! I can’t wait to see how big he/she has gotten!!
And I’m also so excited because my dear best friend Rachael is putting together and planning my BABY SHOWER for this coming June :) They joke and laugh about how it was just this time last year that they were planning my Bridal shower!!
Just leave it to me… I’ll find a reason to celebrate!!

19 And Counting…

Weeks that is!
And only two more left until our ultrasound! You can bet that I will post if for all to see. :)
I know it’s been like forever and a day since I updated. We are going through this inspection at work and we have been working every day since the 3rd of Feb – straight through…. And we have at least 2 more days to go, pending whether issues {since it’s snowing outside right now}. PRAY for us!! I’m ready to be done.
This last week I’ve been feeling the baby move more and more and it’s SO awesome! At first it was usually just at night when I would notice it the most, but now it seems to be all through out the day! When I feel it for the first time for the day or it’s been awhile I get this feeling of being on a roller coaster going down that first drop, because it’s so exciting! Especially with working so much lately, the fact that I’m pregnant sometimes slips my mind and then I get that feeling of baby cakes rolling around in there and I’m reminded of the miracle taking place at this very moment!! It really is a miracle and the fact that I get to experience it first hand is just beyond my comprehension sometimes.
Today I was daydreaming about our little baby bug that’s just baking away in there right now and I just had this warmth come over me when I thought to my self ‘What if it’s a boy?’ I just had this peace and I couldn’t help but smile!
Who knows but we got in the oven right now! But whether boy or girl, we are thrilled to have this experience in our lives!
I have to mention how romantic my husband has been to me these last few weeks and days. {As if everyone didn’t already know!} But he asked me a couple weeks ago if I was ok with making plans on Valentines day even though we will be working and right in the middle of our inspection. I said that’s fine with me, if my hubby wants to treat me sweet I’m always game!! So he said he would do the planning and it would be a surprise {oh big surprise! If anyone knows my husband, he LOVES surprises!}
Then this last week he told me I would need to go out sometime and find myself something to wear for our date, something that I would feel beautiful in :) and he gave me a good chunk of spending cash to do so with. He told me to take care of the whole nine yards – dress, shoes, accessories- all of it! I thought that was so sweet of him! He knows what makes me happy… SHOPPING! We have a budget and try to stick closely to it, so it isn’t very often that I splurge or buy stuff for myself for the heck of it but when it’s his idea and when he says I can I know he loves me!
So we are going to go out for a romantic dinner tomorrow night and I can’t wait to wear my new dress! I got it at the Motherhood store so it shows my tummy and everything. Hey! This baby is a product of LOVE so why not show it off on V-Day!
I’ll be sure to get pics of us all decked out and post em :)

First Step In Family Prep…

This weekend we made a step towards preparing for our little family to be! We got a new car!
Subaru Legacy 2009
sub-front
sub-back
Although it wasn’t necessarily planned to do it this last weekend, but we were already planning for a new car before the baby was born. Both of our cars are two door and getting pretty old with a lot of miles. We wanted to have something reliable and practical for a family. Brandon had been doing his homework for awhile and was pretty much set on the Legacy because of it’s 5 star safety rating. They are cars that are known to last, with a reputation much like Honda and Toyota.
We were actually on our way to the a store when we drove past the dealership on Saturday afternoon and I asked Brandon if he wanted to test drive one. We were waiting to make the deal until my car was paid off (which will be at the end of Feb.) and then sell it and then go make the purchase. But I thought why not give the car a spin now and see if that’s even what he likes! I am fine with what ever we get, especially if Brandon likes it cause he is cautious and somewhat picky. And did I mention my husband is SMART!!
He was nervous as we pulled into the dealership, he had never bought a new car before so he wasn’t sure how to deal with the seaming vultures in the parking lot just waiting for fresh blood! But I said, ‘Just keep driving we don’t have to stop if you don’t want to.’ After he saw the Legacys though he really wanted to check them out! So we found a place to park.
As soon as we got out of our car there was someone walking up to us. We told we were just looking and might be interested in test driving a vehicle or two. He started asking us what we were looking for and showing us around. He asked us if we had ever thought of leasing… no we hadn’t.
Turns out, it’s a pretty good stinkin deal. Not always, depending on the circumstances like your credit, how much you can afford for a monthly payment and so on. But we put no money down and are paying the same amount a month that we have been paying on my Honda! But we still have the Honda!! We didn’t trade anything either. So now the money we were going to use as a down payment is still ours!! Who knew that there could be such a good deal out there?!
I’m still in awe that we have a brand new car sitting in our Garage!! We both have to periodically go out and check if it really is there or not. And Brandon is just so pleased with it, since it’s his first car and I still have the Honda for now, we decided he is going to drive the new car until the baby comes or we sell the Honda. He deserves it!
My favorite features are the moonroof, the color (Newport blue pearl) and the sportiness of it.
Brandon’s favorite features are the remote start (he shows it to everyone!), the color and that it’s ‘a manly looking’ car.
As for other news, I’m finally starting to show a little bit so we are going to be posting some pics from time to time since most of our readers are out of state and don’t get to see the weekly progress in person!
Here is for Week 17:
