First Snow

We had our first snow this past week and it was so surreal to me. It was gorgeous fall weather on the days leading up to the snow. I'm still trying to figure out where the month of October went! So I took my little snow bunnies to the store to get the proper snow gear in the proper sizes. And we came home and played.

This is the only picture I got of Little dude as I was
trying to keep him out of the mud most of the time.

First snow day of the season: 10.27.2011

Monday, January 10

No day like a snow day!

The kind where we stay in our pj's all day.

{Except for a dr appt I had this morning.}

And the fridgid 12 degree temps outside keep us snuggled up inside.

Until after nap time...

Little Dude got in on the action too!

But for much less of the time, it was cold!!

Our snow day play was followed up by hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookie bars both made by hubby! Yum :D

And just for good measure:

Sharks and snow.

Christmas day has come and gone, but not without a visit from the stomach flu bug. Little Lady got it first the day before Christmas eve and then it hit me on Christmas day night. It was a real bummer as it kept me home with the kids on two occasions and I had to miss out on Christmas eve service and seeing my husband swim with sharks!

I was very disappointed on both occasions and trust that God knew ahead of time and had our best in mind. Sometimes we just have to stop or slowdown and when we refuse to do it on our own sickness is quick to strike. As much as I hate being sick and having sick kids I know it's impossible to avoid given this fallen world of sin and sickness we live in.

I'm happy to report we are all feeling much better now! Hope our house guests or my hubby and Little Dude don't catch it.

I wanted to share some pictures from our day up in the mountains. We wanted to see snow while my dad was here so we drove up to have lunch first and then on to see snow!

Little mountain town we at lunch at, Idaho Springs. We ate at local favorite place, Beaux Jo's Pizza. People who live in the city make the drive up here just to taste these delicious 'Mountain Pies.' And they didn't disappoint!

We saw the snow and could hardly stand to get our hands on it! And what a treat to have it actually snow-ING too!

First we had to go through the Eisenhower tunnel...

And bundle up...

It was a gorgeous & enjoyable snow trip!

And the snow flakes were pretty amazing themselves!

It was a good day. :)

Snow flakes keep falling on my head

Not really. We are staying inside today!

I'm not exactly sure what the temperature is outside, but it looks cold with the snow flakes falling and wind a blowin' {a mirror contrast to the 48 deg and sunny weather we had yesterday}.

This isn't cupcakes 'First Snow' by any means, but it's the first time that I've taken her to the window and she was actually interested {more like in amazement!} and watched the flakes blow around. She would get so excited and take a deep breath {like she was gasping with surprise} and then 'tell' me how it was.

Yes, she is starting to 'talk'! She will actually say 'ma ma ma ma' over and over. {Of course I humor myself and reply 'Yes dear?'}

And she recognizes her name! This is the look I get when I call her name:

I also decided to pull out her high chair {a garage sale steal} and see how she fancied it...

She is still a little small for it, but I figure she can start getting used to sitting in it from time to time. :D
